Position Title:  Customer Service Representative Floater

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position provides assistance to customer by performing the necessary steps in handling of payments and maintaining the member records and accounts to assure accuracy and conformity with the Tri-County Electric accounting system. This position is also responsible for coordinating service applications.

The Customer Service Representative/Floater is required to travel to other offices, as assigned, for duty.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

Reports to:  Customer Service Supervisor

RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITIES:

  • Receives payments from members and posts to the appropriate account;
  • processes mail payments; makes necessary adjustments.
  • Balances cash drawer and prepares bank deposits.
  • Processes returned checks
  • Responds to member inquiries.
  • Updates and maintains member records.
  • Prepares consumer accounting related correspondence.
  • Answers inquiries and provides customer service for Tri-County Fiber
  • Communications, a wholly owned subsidiary of Tri-County Electric.
  • Maintains electrical inspection file, completes permits, issues meter bases, maintains electrical inspector job list and collects, balances and submits member inspection payment checks and reports to the State when required.
  • Works with local social service and government agencies that provide assistance for low-income members.
  • Coordinates service order activities, including meeting with the member, obtaining necessary information, completing forms, posting and follow-up.
  • Promotes Cooperative services and products and provides information to members as requested.
  • Keeps informed about the cooperative’s policies, plans and programs.
  • Learns and complies with all Tri-County Electric safety rules and regulations.
  • Exercises reasonable care in the use of and security of all cooperative-owned property.
  • Keeps supervisor informed of all activities.
  • Completes paperwork and assigned reports accurately and on schedule.

OTHER DUTIES:

  • Does everything possible to give the members superior service and    answers or refers all member inquiries promptly.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Conduct oneself in a manner that demonstrates a commitment to Tri-County Electric, its management and the Board of Directors while maintaining a harmonious working relationship with all Cooperative personnel.
  • A high degree of integrity, pleasant disposition and extreme tact are absolutely essential.  Must be able to handle numerous assignments simultaneously with good judgment and discretion.  All decisions and actions must be made in the best interest of the Cooperative regardless of the circumstances.
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills are critical. Strong interpersonal skills, ability to effectively prioritize and complete them in a timely manner and the ability to work independently are required. Must be able to provide oral and written presentations of complex materials. Computer proficiency is required.
  • Some overtime and irregular hours may be required.  Incumbents may be asked to travel to other locations to fill in for employees on leave.

EDUCATION:

High school diploma or equivalent required.  A good knowledge of English grammar and spelling are required to handle reports and correspondence.

Position is required to perform a variety of mathematical calculations in the completion of duties.  Experience above the minimum may be substituted for a portion or all of the education requirement.

EXPERIENCE:

One year experience in a public contact position is required.  Education above the minimum requirement may be substituted for all or a portion of the experience requirement.

JOB KNOWLEDGE:

Must be able to acquire within a reasonable time span knowledge of cooperative billing and collection procedures.

ABILITIES AND SKILLS:

Must be able to use standard office equipment including computer terminals, calculators, etc.  Clear speaking voice.  Must be able to carry out a variety of activities which require a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
